The GREENtank is a 'think tank' for GREEN ideas & we support the Vision of the Isle of Wight as an Eco-Island. With its beautiful natural environs, fresh air, sunshine and well defined boundaries it is the perfect place to demonstrate the principles of sustainable living. With our separation from the mainland we recognize our vulnerability in terms of food, water and energy and believe that with the challenges that are facing the World at the moment we believe we need to move back to a more sustainable way of life, based on local communities and working in closer harmony with nature and restoring our relationship with the Earth.
The Group ( now over 200 strong ) meets approximately every two months at a venue on the IOW to discuss developments in renewable energies, government initiatives, grants and funding opportunities, permaculture and sustainable living in general. The group is comprised of Agencies, Organizations, Trusts, individuals and is often attended by members of the IOW Council. Our aim is to promote sustainable living, to move the IOW increasingly towards the Eco-Island Vision for 2020 and to provide a forum for discussion, exchange of ideas and in some cases the motivation to bring the Island Plan to fruition. We believe that the work that we are doing here can act as a beacon of good practice to the rest of the Country & join us and help to make Eco-Island a reality.
Anyone interested in joining the group should email dgreen@3greenlights.com and you will be added to the circulation list. We are also in the process of developing this website to assist with the propagation of new ideas, technology and good practice in all things GREEN so if you have content that you think might be of interest to us and / or a site that you think we ought to link to then please email me as well.
